PLD house Lome, Togo.
Missionary Peter Alak and Missionary MariaEmmanuel Okoye arrived Lome, Togo to volunteer at PLD orphanage in Attiegou axis. Then they began to seek for the marginalised poor living in the poorest intricate communities. Their search led them to volunteer at a public secondary school in Kolo settlement. They would often teach and provide food for the poor children. Later, the headmaster told them about another village at least 4km from Kolo which was severely marginalised, poor and would be in need of their help. The missionaries set out in search of this village and discovered Avetegbe village. This happened in 2013.
The missionaries did a needs assessment and they pointed out these PROBLEMS;
NO ACCESSIBILITY
There happened to be a big ditch separating the village from the other villages. The villagers placed long tree branches across it to make a dangerous bridge.
NO WATER
The villagers sometimes drank the rain water that was collected into the ditch.
NO SCHOOL
The closest school was at least 4km away. Because of the dangerous bridge and the long distance, the villagers could not send their children there.
NO HEALTH CENTRE, NO ELECTRICITY, NO PLACE OF WORSHIP
After a meeting between the Board of MLM and the villager chief and villagers. The missionaries set to work.
BY THE GRACE OF GOD WE PROVIDED
The picture above is the present state of the bridge. the initial bridge we constructed was wider and stronger thatthat. But as the rains come year by year, the wood weakens and the bridge is 'patched.'
The hole was borne and the pump installed in 2013. since then we had repaired the pump a couple of times. now it has broken down and the technician told us that the next step forward is to perform an overhaul and replace the internal metal pipes with plastic ones that are more durable in water.
The school has two Togolese teachers and one Nigerian missionary. We provided school uniforms, books, stationery, wooden chairs and desks, sports equipment, and other educational aids and supplies. We are actively working towards constructing a school building for the kids.

PROPOSED PROJECTS
We are gathering all the necessary documents for the building of the school. AGE construction company Togo drew up a budget of 7,184, 638FCFA. Approximately 5.3 million naira. Approximately 12,800USD.
As the rains fall year in year out, the ditch keeps enlarging and our wooden bridge keeps breaking up and keeps getting patched by the the villagers. A permanent solution to this problem is to build a concrete bridge. This bridge will cost 5 million FCFA. Approximately 3.67 million naira. Approximately 8,910USD.
The mechanical water pump we made 8 years ago has served the people well and after repeated breakdowns, it requires an overhaul. This will cost about 340,000FCFA. Approximately 250,000naira. Approximately 608USD.
We never discriminate among the poor. We never select who to help or who not to help based on religion, gender, language, nationality or sexual orientation.
